Congratulations on your assignment to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific Detachment (NCTAMS PAC DET) Puget Sound, Tactical Support Center Communications Department (TSCOMM DEPT) Whidbey Island, Washington.

TSCOMM DEPT Whidbey Island is located on Whidbey Island near the town of Oak Harbor, Washington. TSCOMM DEPT Whidbey Island is comprised of a myraid of complex communications systems to provide Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Ten (CPRW-10) and designated Patrol Squadrons with tactical and strategic communications support throughout the Northwestern United States and in the Eastern Pacific Region.

Housing and Temporary Lodging
Single enlisted personnel E-1 through E-4 are required to reside in the Combined Bachelors Housing (CBH). The CBH can be reached either by calling (360) 257-2038 or (360) 257-2529 or visiting Navy Gateway Inns & Suites front desk located at 3535 N. Saratoga St, Bldg #973,Oak Harbor, WA 98278 . Single E-5 and above personnel are authorized to live on the economy with command approval.

Personnel transferring with families should contact the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) as the one-stop-shop housing information center. The FFSC is the initial step for applying for military housing for NAS Whidbey Island, (provided by Forest City) and will be your initial source of housing information for Oak Harbor, Washington.

Temporary lodging is available on base for families. Families with children should consider the NAS Whidbey Island Navy Lodge, telephone: 1-800-628-9466 or 1-360-675-0633. The Navy Lodge is between $62.00 to $72.00 a night and provides kitchens, rollaway beds, and cribs.

Families without children could consider the Navy Gateway Inns & Suits, telephone: 1-877-628-9233 or 1-360- 257-2529. Standard rooms are $35.00 per night and suites are $50.00 per night. Kitchens, rollaway beds, and cribs are not available, all room have one queen sized bed.

Transportation to NAS Whidbey Island
Air Travel from SEATAC Airport
If you are flying into SEATAC International Airport, please plan ahead for your travel from the airport to NAS Whidbey Island. If coordinated with your sponsor beforehand, your sponsor will gladly meet you at the airport and assist you with the rest of your travel to NAS Whidbey Island. If mission tempo or by personal choice you choose to take care of your transportation needs to Whidbey Island yourself, there are many different options available. The most popular and reliable transportation to NAS Whidbey Island is the Whidbey-SeaTac Shuttle. If you do take any commercial transportation from the airport to NAS Whidbey Island, keep all receipts as these expenses are reimbursed by PSD.


Driving to NAS Whidbey Island:

Coming from Interstate 5

Head north on I-5 N (63.2 mi)

Take exit 230 for WA-20 toward Burlington/Anacortes/Skagit Airport (0.3 mi)

Turn left at Avon Cutoff/WA-20 W

Continue to follow WA-20 (11.7 mi)

Turn left to stay on WA-20 W (13.1 mi)

Turn right at W Ault Field Rd (1.9 m)

Turn right at N. Goldie Rd (0.6 mi)

Enter Naval Air Station Whidbey Island - Charles Porter Gate

Turn right onto Torpedo Rd

Park in parking lot on the far right hand side

If your sponsor has not arranged to meet you elsewhere; go to building 3001 and the quarterdeck will call a TSCOMM Sailor to escort you to our spaces.
