​Command Master Chief Richard Meek is a native of San Jose, California. His Naval Career started in 1993 at Recruit Training Command San Diego, California. After completion of CTR "A" school in Pensacola, Florida his first assignment was onboard the USS Deyo (DD 989) homeport Charleston, South Carolina and later homeport shifted to Norfolk, Va.

His next assignment was a staff tour at Commander Third Fleet embarked on USS Coronado (AGF 11) Point Loma, CA. In June of 2000 he reported to Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific in San Diego, Ca now known as Tactical Training Group Pacific (TACTRAGRUPAC). After a successful shore duty tour he reported to Pre-Commissioning Unit Pinckney in Pascagoula, Mississippi in 2003. He made her maiden deployment in 2005. Before transferring from Pinckney he was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2006.

His first LCPO assignment was Afloat Training Group San Diego. He trained and sailed on over 40 different ships of various platforms. In March of 2010 He reported for duty onboard the USS Peleliu (LHA 5). Following a very rewarding sea tour he left sunny San Diego and reported to Navy Information Operations Command, Georgia. He terminated shore duty early to return to sea as Commander Carrier Strike Group Fifteen�s Assistant Cryptologic Resource Coordinator. In February 2017 he was selected for Command Master Chief. In September 2017 he reported to Navy Information Operations Command San Diego where he currently serves as the Command Master Chief.

Master Chief is a graduate of the Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy, the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course and has an Associates of Arts degree in management from Coastline Community College. His deployments include multiple Western Pacific tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and other contingency operations.

Master Chief Meek is designated as an Enlisted Information Warfare, Surface Warfare, Air Warfare, Master, and Afloat Training Specialist. He has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), as well as numerous unit and campaign awards.
