Ground Operation Specialist Course (GOS)

PURPOSE
To provide intermediate level instruction for noncommissioned and staff noncommissioned officers assigned to a unit's operation section. Marines will be awarded the secondary MOS of 8711 upon successful completion of the course.
SCOPE
The course focuses on providing an understanding of the functional responsibility of current and future operations by providing instruction in the following areas: Command and Control support for Amphibious Operations, Marine Corps Planning Process, Rapid Response Planning Process (R2P2), Information Management, Unit Training Management, Operational Security Procedures, Intelligence Preparation of the Battle Field (IPB), the Joint Tactical Common Operation Picture Work Station (JTCW) to include the Command and Control Personal Computer (C2PC) software application, collaborative applications, and presentation graphics.

Rank: NCOs and SNCOs
MOS: 03XX, 0811, 0842, 0844, 0847, 0848, 0861, 1833, 4341.

Officers who attend this course will not be awarded the EMOS of 8711 in accordance with the MOS Manual. Officers may also requre unit funding to attend.

Security clearance verification needs to be forwarded to the EWTGLANT Security Manager via JPAS using SMO CODE 560110296.

A completed SAAR-N is required. See the student information section on the EWTGLANT homepage for the "SAAR-N Example" form (this pdf provides direction on how to complete the form); complete and submit the "SAAR-N Pre-filled" form within 72 hours of course registration. Detaching/Parent command's security manager shall validate and digitally sign SAAR-N form to expedite student check-in upon arrival at EWTGLANT.

Security clearance verification must contain the following information: Full name; rank, grade, or rate; date and place of birth; DODID number; citizenship of proposed student; name and address of the activity to be visited; date and duration of the proposed visit; security clearance of proposed visitor, investigation type, date of investigation; and phone number and verifying signature of the Security Manager.
