CTRCM (IW/AW/NAC) Noam S. Cohen
As a native of Houston, Texas, Master Chief Cohen graduated from John Foster Dulles High School in June of 1995. In November of that year, he left for Basic Training at Great Lakes, IL. After completion of boot camp, Master Chief Cohen attended Communications Signals Collection and Processing (CTR) “A” School in Pensacola, FL. Following his graduation with honors, he attended additional schools and training to include Naval Aircrewman Candidate School (NACCS) in Pensacola, FL, Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training in San Diego, CA, and Manual Morse Code School in Fort Huachuca, AZ.
Master Chief Cohen then reported to Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Misawa, Japan. Over an 8 year span, he accrued over 3,000 flight hours, earned his Naval Aircrew Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist insignias, and also volunteered for a 3 month deployment onboard the USS LOUISVILLE (SSN-724). In March of 2000, he went back to Pensacola, where he attended and graduated with honors from the Intermediate Communications Signals Analysis Course “C” School. Deployments during his time in Misawa included Bahrain, Thailand, Australia, Guam, Diego Garcia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, and Okinawa.
Following his time in Misawa, Master Chief Cohen transferred to Center for Information Dominance (CID) Corry Station in Pensacola, FL to instruct CTR “A” school. While there, he attended Basic Instructor Training (BIT), earned his Master Training Specialist qualification, and was hand-selected to lead the largest CID course in the domain.
After his tour in Pensacola, Master Chief Cohen screened and was selected for duty at Navy Information Operations Detachment (NIOD) Kaneohe Bay, HI. While attached to NIOD for over eight years, he accrued over 4,000 combat flight hours on two dozen deployments in multiple theaters. It is during this tour when he was selected to Chief and where he earned his Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist insignia. In 2014, Master Chief Cohen was selected as the Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL), where he served a term of 15 months. Deployments during this tour included Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Italy, Greece, Philippines, Thailand, Guam, and Diego Garcia.
Master Chief then transferred to Training Support Center – Hampton Roads (TSC-HR) at Dam Neck, VA. After 6 months onboard, he submitted for the Voluntary Sea Duty Program and selected orders to Commander, Pacific Fleet where he served as Assistant Cryptologic Resource Coordinator (ACRC). In route, he attended the Cryptologic Resource Coordinator (CRC) Course in Pensacola, FL, where he was the first ever Navy enlisted graduate.
In November of 2019, Master Chief Cohen assumed the duties as Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) for Cryptologic Warfare Activity SIXTY SIX at Ft. Meade, MD, where he is currently serving.
Master Chief Cohen’s additional professional academic achievements include Senior Enlisted Academy (2013) and CMC / COB Course (2019). He has also attended Mode 1 Ground/Air Operator Course (2012, 2014), SOF Advanced Tactical Computer Network Operations Course (2013), and Precision GSM/CDMA/UMTS/LTE Geo-Location Course (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015).
Master Chief Cohen’s personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, eleven Air Medals, one Navy Commendation Medal, three Navy Achievement Medals, and numerous unit citations and campaign awards.
