Mr. David Frye

Mr. David Frye is a native of Portsmouth, VA where he graduated from John Yeats High School, Suffolk, Virginia, in 1988.  He entered the United States Marine Corps in 27 June 1988.

Upon graduation from Boot Camp at Paris Island, South Carolina he was assigned the Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) 7212, Red Eye Stinger Gunner and attended MOS training at Fort Bliss, Texas.  Later he would be assigned as a Squad Leader for Light Armor Air Defense (LAVAD) (MOS 0313), Career Planner (MOS 4821), and Information Security Technician (MOS 0681).   

Units he was assigned to were: First Low Altitude (LAAD) Battalion (later re-designated First Stinger Battery), 4th Light Armor Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion, Helicopter Marine Medium (HMM) Squadron 261, II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) G-6 MEF COMSEC Management Office (MCMO), FMF LANT (later re-designated COMMARFORLANT), 3rd Marine Logistics Group (MLG), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and 22nd MEU.  His combat deployments include: Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).  It was with the 22nd MEU that he participated in OEF.

Units where he served as the Communications Security Manager in the Marine Corps were: First Stinger Battery, II MEF MCMO, COMMARFORLANT, and 3rd MLG.  He also was a COMSEC Inspector/Auditor, and Immediate Superior in Command (ISIC) for these units. 

Mr. Frye retired from the Marine Corps in October 2009, at the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8).  His personal awards include:  Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendations Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 stars (3rd award).  He was selected Marine Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the quarter for second Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), and earned his Aerial Observer / Gunner designation for CH-53E while deployed in support of OEF. 

After retirement from the Marine Corps, in 2009, Mr. Frye started working for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as a COMSEC manager.  Then in 2012 he transferred from ICE to Department of the Navy working as an Alternate COMSEC manager.  In 2018, he was selected as the Technical Director for Navy Communications Security Material System (NCMS), where he currently working.

Mr. Frye is married to Mrs. Yumiko Frye of Okinawa Japan, and has two boys, Christopher and Ryan Frye.  Mrs. Frye is currently working as a supervising accountant in the local business community.​
