Cold Weather Parka

a.  Description.  The Cold Weather Parka (CWP) is black, single breasted, made of waterproof and wind resistant material (figure 3501.1b-1).  Its features include a hidden center-front zipper fastener, a hidden hood housed in the shell of the collar, a center-chest rank tab and constructed to facilitate wearing the zip-in zip-out NWU black fleece liner.

b.  Correct Wear.  Close zipper at least 3/4 of the way.  The collar should lay flat unless inclement weather conditions warrant it being up and fastened around the neck.  The Parka may be worn with or without the zip-in inner liner.  The Parka hideaway hood will be stowed and zipped closed unless being donned.  During the winter or inclement weather periods, the parka hood is authorized for wear in addition to the head gear.  Rank insignia is required for wear by E4 through O10 centered on the center chest rank tab.  Rank insignia may be metal or matching fabric sold through Navy Exchange Uniform Centers.  Nametags are not authorized for wear.  When the rank insignia is removed from the parka, personnel may wear the coat with civilian clothing.  For insignia, officers see article 4103, CPOs see article 4213 and E6 and below see article 4227.

c.  Ownership Markings (Optional for Officers/CPOs).  Surname, first initial and middle initial (if applicable), on label provided inside the parka.
