Welcome to the SELRES Medical Officer Community Manager Page!
(Includes MC, DC, MSC, NC)
Welcome to the Reserve Component (RC) Medical Community Managers page. This website page is designed to provide helpful information on the RC Medical Communities including general guidance on accessing into each corps as well as information for current officers.
Navy Medicine retains the ability to deliver medical capabilities across the full range of military operations through the appropriate mix of accession, retention, education, and training incentives. The Navy Total Force maximizes the continuum of service, yet some active duty missions are not echoed in the Navy Reserve Component, and some specialties are unavailable for paid status as a Selected Reservist. In some instances, Navy Reserve Officers can drill with Voluntary Training Units or request a change of designator in order to obtain further Navy training and accumulate points toward retirement.
Some specialties require training completed while still on active duty (e.g. Aviation Medicine, also known as Flight Surgery-15A), and thus are filled only by prior-service members. Incentives (aka bonuses) are available to certain specialties based overwhelmingly on degree of specialization, Navy Reserve need, and limits of the recruiting base. Authorized incentives are noted on this page, and can be verified by contacting a local recruiter or career transition officer, whose contacts are noted below.
