Additional Qualification Designators (AQDs) are used to denote special qualifications you have obtained in your career.  These qualifications play an important role in documenting your achievements and provide Selection Board members with an overview of key qualifications.  AQDs show up in two places: 1) at the bottom of your Performance Summary Record (PSR) cover page and 2) in the far right column of your Officer Data Card (ODC).  The next time you review your record, take a look and ensure your well-earned qualifications are documented.

Summarized below are some important AQDs (tailored to more Junior Officers).  There are literally thousands of AQDs in the Navy, but these are the main ones with which you should be concerned.

TAO, AAWC, or CSC Letter on BMD ship,
completion of tour on BMD ship as CO, XO, CSO, WEPS, CHENG, FCO, STO, CICO, EMO, TRAINO

Command LN7 Completion of requirements set forth in CNSP/LINST 1412.2 (series)
Command 2D1 Completed the command qualification process, to include the oral board. This AQD will be awarded in conjunction with the LN7 Surface Command Qualification AQD
Command 2D2 Completed 2D1 requirements, screened for command, and completed the Command Leadership Course
Command 2D3 Completed all requirements of 2D1 and 2D2 and completed the Major Command Leadership Course

Note 1: Completed AEGIS Combat System Officer or AEGIS PCO/PXO Course; and served as a CO, XO, CSO, WCO, FCO, CICO, or Operations Officer aboard a CG-47 or DDG-51 Class Ship; or Qualified as a TAO aboard a CG-47 or DDG-51 Class Ship.
