Originally from Coral Springs, Florida, Commander Kraemer graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in May 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture. He was designated a Naval Aviator in April 2005 and completed fleet replacement training with VP-30 in March of 2006.
CDR Kraemer’s operational tours include with the VP-40 “Fighting Marlins” at Whidbey Island, Washington as NATOPS Instructor Pilot; USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) in San Diego, California as Assistant Navigator; and the VP-26 “Tridents” in Jacksonville, Florida as the Operations Officer, where he completed the transition from the P-3C “Orion” to the P-8A “Poseidon”. CDR Kraemer has deployments to FOURTH, FIFTH, and SEVENTH Fleets in support of Operations MARTILLO, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and INHERENT RESOLVE.
His shore tours include with the VP-30 “Pro’s Nest” as a Fleet Replacement Instructor Pilot, Fleet Instructor Under-Training Instructor (FIUT-I), and Quality Assurance Officer (QAO); Navy Personnel Command in Millington, Tennessee where he served as the Shore Installation and Acquisition Placement Officer (PERS-44) working with Test and Evaluation units as well as regional staffs and installations around the world.
In June 2019, CDR Kraemer reported to the VP-16 “War Eagles”, and assumed the duties as Commanding Officer, 01 May 2020.
Personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal Strike/Flight (3), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2) in addition to various personal and unit awards.
