Commander William R. White
Commanding Officer

Commander White is a native of Anderson, SC and is a 2002 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he graduated earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida and has also graduated from the Air Command and Staff College where he completed JPME Phase 1 and earned a Masters in Military Operational Art and Science.

After receiving his Naval Flight Officer Wings in 2003, CDR White was assigned to Patrol Squadron Sixteen (VP-16) at NAS Jacksonville, FL where he completed two deployments in support of operations in the SOUTHCOM, EUCOM, and CENTCOM AORs as a Patrol Plane Mission Commander, Instructor Tactical Coordinator and the NFO NATOPS Officer.
In 2010, CDR White began his second sea tour onboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69), as a Catapults Launch and Recovery Officer. As the Division Officer for two divisions, V-0 and V-2, and the lead “Shooter”, he ensured the safe, mishap free execution of 11,469 Launch and Recovery Evolutions. He completed one deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and additionally qualified as Officer of the Deck Underway.
During his 3rd Sea Tour, CDR White served as a Department Head at Patrol Squadron Nine (VP-9) in Kaneohe Bay, HI where he completed two deployments in the SOUTHCOM, EUCOM, and CENTCOM AORs. He held the positions of Tactics, CTG 67.1 Operations, Future Operations, and Operations Officer.
CDR White’s first shore tour was as an instructor tour at VP-30 where he served as a Fleet NATOPS Evaluator, Fleet Instructor Under Training (FIUT) Instructor, and the NFO Training Officer. His second shore tour was at the Joint Chiefs of Staff (J-5) Strategy, Plans, and Policy, Directorate for Political-Military Affairs-Africa.
CDR White’s personal awards include the Air Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal, and various campaign, unit and service awards.
Commander White began serving Patrol Squadron TEN as Executive Officer in May 2019. In June 2020, Commander White assumed duties as the 84th Commanding Officer of VP-10.
