CDR Luke "Donnie" Swain
      Commander Swain is a native of Bushnell, Florida. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2001, earning his commision and a B.S. in Oceanography. He earned his Naval Flight Officer Wings in April 2003 and reported to the "Grim Reapers" of VF-101 at NAS Oceana, VA for initial fleet training in the F-14D Tomcat.
       CDR Swain reported to the "Tomcatters" of VF-31 at NAS Oceana for his first operational tour. While a "Tomcatter", CDR Swain made two deployments aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), and the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. While at VF-31, CDR Swain earned qualifications as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and Forward Air Controller (Airborne).CDR Swain reported to the "Tomcatters" of VF-31 at NAS Oceana for his first operational tour. While a "Tomcatter", CDR Swain made two deployments aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), and the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. While at VF-31, CDR Swain earned qualifications as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and Forward Air Controller (Airborne).
      
      In October 2006, CDR Swain reported to the "Flying Eagles" of VFA-122 to execute a transition syllabus in the F/A-18F Super Hornet, and remained onboard as an FRS Instructor. While at VFA-122, CDR SWAIN deployed to Balad, Iraq and flew combat missions as an Individual Augmentee with Air Force Special Operations Command assets in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
       In December of 2009, CDR Swain returned to the fleet as the Strike Operations Officer with CVW-2 at NAS Lemoore, CA. While at CVW-2, CDR Swain deployed onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and OPERATION NEW DAWN. While still at CVW-2, CDR Swain received Department Head orders to the "Bounty Hunters" of VFA-2 at NAS Lemoore, CA.
      CDR Swain reported to VFA-2 in February 2011. While with the "Bounty Hunters", CDR Swain served as the Safety Officer and Operations Officer during two deployments aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), flying combat operations in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.CDR Swain reported to VFA-2 in February 2011.       In December 2015, CDR Swain reported to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in Tampa, FL. While assigned to USSOCOM, CDR Swain served as the Future Concepts Branch Chief contributing to numerous publications on the future of Special Operations.In December 2015, CDR Swain reported to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) in Tampa, FL.       CDR Swain has accumulated over 400 carrier arrested landings and over 2,900 flight hours. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike Flight Air Medal (ten awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and numerous other campaign and service awards.
