Welcome aboard VAW-125, THE "WORLD FAMOUS" TIGERTAILS. You are joining a dynamite team of sailors who are dedicated to our mission of providing AIRBORNE EARLY WARNING AND COMMAND AND CONTROL to CARRIER AIR WING FIVE (CVW-5) to which we are assigned aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76). Established in 1968, the Squadron is the first to deploy with the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Aircraft, and currently serving in Forward Deployed Naval Forces, Japan. Our successes lie in steadfast efforts or our people and VAW-125 requires a total team effort of all assigned personnel. We can achieve our mission only through teamwork. We fly the Northrop-Grumman E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, a dual engine, turboprop airborne command and control aircraft often referred to as the Hummer; Our principal mission is Command and Control of airborne, surface, and battlefield assets. This includes long range detection of hostile forces, strike control at sea, coordination and control for power projection ashore and fleet air defense. We have participated in the ongoing Global War on Terrorism as well as a variety of multi-national exercises throughout the world. We are manned with approximately 150 top-notch enlisted and 35 officers, every one vital to the success of our mission. The work we do is demanding, only the highest degree of professionalism will guarantee success. The rewards and sense of accomplishment of being on a winning team will be worth the effort.
