Congratulations on your assignment to

Electronic Attack Squadron One Three Four

The World Famous Garudas

VAQ-134 has a long and proud history.  The Squadron has operated around the globe and been called upon in our country’s times of need. You will be joining a team of outstanding Sailors who have answered this call for over 50 years. We’re excited to welcome you into the Garuda Team.

You will be assigned a sponsor as soon as your orders are official. Your sponsor will be able to assist you with any questions related to the Command or your PCS. If you have not yet been contacted by your sponsor, please email: WHDB_VAQ-134_Sponsor@navy.mil or call our admin office at (360) 257-1353.

The Area

The Garuda’s are homeported in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, onboard Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington.  There are two bases within 5 miles of each other, Ault field referred to as Main base and Seaplane Base. Ault Field consists of the majority of Commands, the hospital, galley, and Fleet and Family Support Center. Seaplane base houses the main Navy Exchange, Commissary, and Navy Lodge. Whidbey Island and the surrounding areas are well known for their spectacular views as well as fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, and camping opportunities.

Getting to NASWI

The main airport in the area is Seattle-Tacoma International.  Whidbey Island is 2-3 hours from the SeaTac Airport so you will need to arrange additional transportation to the island via shuttle bus. Currently Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle is the only shuttle bus service available, which drops you off at Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) Building 973, McCormick Lodge. Service desks are in the lower level of the airport, same level as baggage claim. Reservations are highly encouraged but not required. To make a reservation call 360-679-4003 or log onto their website http://www.seatacshuttle.com. You will be reimbursed for transportation expenses provided you keep your receipts.

If you are driving, please contact your sponsor for more information. If you have any questions, please contact your sponsor or the Squadron Duty Officer at (360)257-2198.

Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS), McCormick Lodge also has rooms available to incoming personnel and is located on the Ault Field base. NGIS rooms do not allow pets. Rooms can be reserved through their website or via phone: 360-639-4429.

Checking in

The Squadron works out of Hangar 5 which is the last hangar on Charles Porter Ave and furthest from the Charles Porter Gate.  Access to the flight line and hangar are restricted and require permissions to be added to your CAC. You can have your flight line access encoded at the Pass and Decal office located outside Langley gate during normal business hours (0730 - 1530). You will need to bring a copy of your orders. If you are checking-in after 1700 or on the weekend you may report in appropriate civilian attire or your working uniform to the Squadron Duty Office. For more information, please contact your sponsor or the Squadron Duty Officer at (360) 257-2198.
