Master Chief Edney enlisted in the United States Navy in August, 1999 and completed Basic Training, and Firemen Apprentice training in Great Lakes, Illinois.
His sea duty assignments include:  USS CHOSIN (CG-65), USS HOPPER (DDG-70), USS PORT ROYAL (CG-73), and USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG-60).  His shore assignments include:  Center for Naval Engineering Learning Site Pearl Harbor, in support of Basic and Advanced Damage Control instruction and training to the Middle Pacific ships.  Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific as a Damage Control Assessor for 12 Pearl Harbor based ships.
He was selected to the Command Senior Chief Program in 2015.  Master Chief Edney served as the Command Master Chief to the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island.
In January 2018, Master Chief Edney reported to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO THREE where he currently serves as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Edney is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 189, Gold), and Command Master Chief / Chief of the Boat Course (Class 147).  He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist and Afloat Training Specialist.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Along with numerous unit and campaign awards.
