Captain Jasso hails from Tucson, AZ.  He took the Oath of Enlistment at the age of 17 during his senior year of high school and entered the Navy’s Delayed Entry Program in 1989.   After the completion of submarine and sonar technician training, Captain Jasso reported to U.S.S. Sand Lance (SSN- 660) home ported out of NS Charleston, S.C.  As an Enlisted Professional he earned his submarine warfare qualification and rapidly advanced to first class petty officer – STS1(SS).
Captain Jasso commissioned as an Ensign in June 1997 through Officer Candidate School under the ADM Boorda “Seaman to Admiral” Program.  After earning his “Wings of Gold” he reported to VF-101 Grim Reapers on NAS Oceana, VA, for F-14 Tomcat training as a Radar Intercept Officer.  During his first aviation operational tour, Captain Jasso transitioned with his squadron from F-14 Tomcats to F/A-18F Super Hornets and moved to NAS Lemoore, CA.
Captain Jasso’s aviation operational tours include VF/VFA-41 Black Aces (Junior Officer Tour); VFA-22 Redcocks (Training Officer Tour); VFA-154 Black Knights (Department Head Tour); VFA-41 Black Aces (XO and Command Tour), making multiple deployments embarked U.S.S. ENTERPRISE (CVN-65); U.S.S. JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74); and U.S.S. RONALD REGAN (CVN-76).
Captain Jasso’s shore tours include VFA-122 Flying Eagles (Instructor); VX-9 Vampires, Detachment Nellis AFB (Flight Test Engineer); Command and Staff College at the Naval War College (Student); The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Chantilly, VA (Joint Service Tour); and OPNAV N98 Air Warfare Division, Hornet Requirements Officer and Special Programs Branch Head, in the Pentagon (Post-Command Tour).
During Captain Jasso’s career he has worked with the finest Sailors in the Fleet that directly resulted him in earning several personal awards and recognitions to include:  William J. Dey Junior Officer Leadership Award (VFA-41/2002); F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet Instructor of the Year (VFA-122/2004); Admiral Wesley L. McDonald Leadership Award  for Strike Fighter Wing Pacific (VFA-122/2004); CNAF’s Navy and Marine Corps Association Peer Leadership Award (VFA-154/2010); NRO Field Grade Officer of the Year, Mission Integration Directorate (NRO/2012) and once again selected for CNAF’s Navy and Marine Corps Association Peer Leadership Award (VFA-41/2016) .  Additionally, he is a US Navy Fighter Weapons School Graduate (TOPGUN); earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University); and a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies (Naval War College).
Captain Jasso is married to the former Caroline Altamirano and they have two adult children – Marcos and Amanda.  Captain Jasso assumed the duties of DCAG for CVW-3 in July 2019.
