      Master A native of Minnesota, Command Master Chief Chelberg enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school.  In August of 1990, he entered boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida and upon graduation reported to Aviation Electronics Technician “A” School in Millington, TN.  Currently assigned as the CMC for Commander Carrier Air Wing Three, his other fleet assignments include the “Rooks” of VAQ-137 (1991-1994 & 2011-2014) his second tour he served as the Maintenance Master Chief, the “Lancers” of VAQ-131 (1994-1996 & 2014-2017) his second tour he served as the Command Master Chief, the “Golden Warriors” of VFA-87 (2000-2002), and the “Zappers” of VAQ-130 (2005-2009).  While on sea duty, Master Chief Chelberg participated in both carrier and expeditionary deployments in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, DENY FLIGHT, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM.

Shore assignments include duty as a Recruit Division Commander at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois (1996-2000), recruiting duty at Navy Recruiting District Minneapolis, Navy Recruiting Station Green Bay (2002-2005), the “Vikings” of VAQ-129 (2009-2011), and Command Master Chief at Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (2017-2019).  He graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in 2006 and the Command Master Chief Course in 2014.  He holds a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Master Chief Chelberg has been recognized with the Commander Electronic Attack Wing Pacific Chief Petty Leadership Excellence award and has earned the Aviation Warfare, Surface Warfare, and Master Training Specialist designations.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
