Deputy.pngCAPT Jonathan G.Voorheis

A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, CAPT Jon Voorheis received his commission into the United States Navy through Officer Candidate School in July, 1996.  He is a 2007 graduate of the Naval War College, earning a Master of Science in Strategic Studies and his Joint Professional Military Education-PHASE I.
His operational assignments include service with the “Maulers” of Sea Control Squadron (VS) 32, where he deployed onboard the USS JOHN F KENNEDY; the “War Eagles” of  Patrol Squadron (VP) 16 where he completed detachments to El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Iceland and Italy; the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69), where he served as a catapult & arresting gear officer; department with the “Old Buzzards”  of Special Projects Patrol Squadron (VPU) 1; and executive and commanding officer of the “Screaming Eagles” of VP-1, winning both the Battle E and SAFETY S.
His shore assignments include operations and plans officer for Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing (CPRW) 11; joint operations center watch officer and current operations air cell chief at U.S. Africa Command; and chief staff officer and operations officer for Commander, Task Force 72.
Most recently, he has completed an airframe transition to the P-8 Poseidon and is serving as the deputy commodore of CPRW 10.  
His decorations are a reflection of the impressive men and women he has served with and include the Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Air Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), as well as a Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
