COMMANDER GREGORY P. LEMBO
EXECUTIVE OFFICER HSM-41
Commander Greg Lembo hails from Wyckoff, NJ. He attended The United States Naval Academy, graduating in 2002 with a B.S. in Political Science. He completed flight training, and was designated a Naval Aviator in November 2003. He graduated with an Executive Masters in Business Administration from the Naval Post Graduate School in 2010. He completed the Naval War College’s distance education program for JPME I in 2015.
CDR Lembo’s sea assignments include HSL-43, where he deployed to 5th Fleet as Detachment THREE Assistant Maintenance Officer on board USS REUBEN JAMES (FFG 57), and as Detachment TWO Maintenance Officer on board USS CHUNG HOON (DDG 93). In 2010 he reported to USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8) as the Aircraft Handling and Assistant Air Officer where he deployed to 5th Fleet during the ship’s maiden deployment. In 2013 he reported to HSM-70 for his department head tour where he served as Safety, Officer-in-Charge of detachment TWO embarked in USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55), Training Officer, Operations Officer, and Maintenance Officer. While at HSM-70, he deployed to 5th Fleet with CVW-8 and the USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77) Carrier Strike Group.
CDR Lembo’s shore assignments include a tour at HSM-41 as an FRS Instructor from 2007 to 2010. From 2016 to 2018 he was assigned to Joint Duty at the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s (NORAD) Maritime Warning division in Colorado Springs, CO. While at NORAD, CDR Lembo was responsible for advising the governments of the United States and Canada of maritime threats to North America.
CDR Lembo has accumulated over 2,100 flight hours in Naval Aircraft. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards), 2015 NHA Region Three Maintenance Officer of the Year, and numerous campaign awards.
