CDR Patrick “Ernie” Corrigan is a native of Miller Place, New York. He received his commission through the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY in 1999.

CDR Corrigan was designated a Naval Aviator in January 2002. Following flight school, he received orders to the “Gladiators” of VFA-106 at NAS Oceana for F/A-18C Hornet training. CDR Corrigan’s first operational fleet assignment was as a member of the “Marauders” of VFA-82 located at MCAS Beaufort, SC. The squadron embarked to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) and to the Western Pacific aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72).

In September 2005, CDR Corrigan was selected to attend the Navy Fighter Weapons School, where he remained as a TOPGUN instructor.

Upon completion of his tour at TOPGUN, CDR Corrigan reported to the “Dambusters” of VFA-195 in Atsugi, Japan where he served as the Training Officer. As a member of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces, he deployed aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) in the Western Pacific.

In March 2010, CDR Corrigan reported to the “Sidewinders” of VFA-86 again at MCAS Beaufort, SC where he deployed aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68). As a Department Head in VFA-86, CDR Corrigan executed a homeport change from MCAS Beaufort, SC to NAS Lemoore, CA and transitioned from the F/A-18C Hornet to the F/A-18E Super Hornet.

In November 2012, CDR Corrigan received orders to the Naval War College in Newport, RI. Upon graduation in November 2013, he reported to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-7, as an Action Officer in the Joint Professional Military Education Division at the Pentagon.

In August 2016, CDR Corrigan reported to the “Argonauts” of VFA-147 in Lemoore, CA. He became the Commanding Officer of the “Argonauts” in November 2017. As Commanding Officer, he led the first squadron to transition from the F/A-18 Super Hornet to the F-35C Lightning II.

In March 2019, CDR Corrigan reported to OPNAV N98 as the F-35C Requirements Officer.

In March 2020, CDR Corrigan assumed command of the “Rough Raiders” of VFA-125, the Navy’s F-35C Lightning II Fleet Replacement Squadron.

CDR Corrigan is a 1999 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. He holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards) and various campaign and unit awards.
