CDR Timothy G. Drosinos
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO TWO
CDR Timothy “Dill” Drosinos, a native of Baltimore,
MD, was commissioned in 2002 after graduating from the United States Naval
Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. In 2002, he began his flight
training in Pensacola, FL, working toward his designation as a Naval Aviator,
which he earned in June of 2004. After
receiving his wings of gold, CDR Drosinos began his SH-60F/HH-60H Fleet Replacement
Pilot training in San Diego, CA, with the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron
TEN (HS-10) Warhawks.
completion of H-60 training in 2005, CDR Drosinos was ordered to the Helicopter
Anti-Submarine Squadron FOURTEEN (HS-14) Chargers, permanently forward deployed
to NAF Atsugi, Japan. He deployed onboard the USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) from
2005-2008 in support of training and operations in the 7th Fleet AOR.
During his tour, he served as the Legal Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, AVARM
Division officer, AOIC for an ASW detachment, and the Unit NATOPS Instructor.
In 2008, he was nominated to be an
MH-60S Fleet Replacement Instructor in Helicopter Combat Support Squadron TWO
(HSC-2), as a part of the Fleet Angels, located in Norfolk, VA. He served as
the SAR Program Officer, Quality Assurance Officer and was nominated as the
CNAL NATOPS Evaluator for the entire east coast. He was able to travel back to Forward
Deployed Naval Forces from 2011-2012 and deploy twice to 7th Fleet,
serving as the Helicopter Element Coordinator for Carrier Airwing FIVE onboard
USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73); coordinating and tasking U.S. and foreign
rotary wing assets attached to Carrier Strike Group FIVE (CSG 5).
screened for Department Head and joined the Dusty Dogs of Helicopter Combat
Support Squadron SEVEN (HSC 7) located in Norfolk, VA in June 2013, attached to
Carrier Airwing THREE. As the Safety Department Head, the command earned the CY
2013 CNO Safety “S” Award. Shortly after check-in, he deployed from 2013-2014
to the 5th Fleet AOR onboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75), tasked to support
Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF). Over the last 17 years, he has flown over
2500 hours in the SH-60F, HH-60H, MH-60S and training aircraft, including both
operational and training missions. Post Department Head tour, CDR Drosinos
attended the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, RI earning a Masters of Arts in
National Security and Strategic Studies and JPME Phase 1.
After the War College,
CDR Drosinos checked into US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), located at
Camp Smith, HI. He worked for the PACOM J6 as the Country Desk Officer (CDO) to
Korea and Japan directing and synchronizing joint command, control, communications
and cyber actions to ensure command and control (C2), collaboration, and
information sharing capabilities for joint, interagency, and coalition
operations throughout the Pacific AOR during peacetime and war.
