Congratulations on receiving orders to the "Sea Dragons" of HELMINERON TWELVE.
As your Commanding Officer, I would like to personally welcome you aboard the finest squadron in the United States Navy. You will be an important member of the Navy's sole MH-53E Fleet Replacement Squadron. No doubt your tour here will be both challenging and rewarding.
We are located aboard Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia. As a Fleet Replacement Squadron, HM-12 trains pilots and aircrewmen to fly the MH-53E in preparation for a variety of worldwide missions, including Airborne Mine Countermeasures, Fleet Logistics Support, Heavy Lift, and Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HA/DR). You are joining a command that is part of one of the most tight-knit communities in Naval Aviation and your time here will be among your most rewarding professional experiences.
You will be provided with a sponsor to help with your transition to the squadron. If you are unable to contact your sponsor, please call the Command Sponsor Coordinators at (757) 322-9377. Please keep your sponsor informed of travel plans, especially your arrival date so we can assist you as necessary. Commander, Navy Region, Mid-Atlantic has established a relocation assistance website for military members and their families transferring to the Hampton Roads area. The website:
provides information on the Hampton Roads area to include family housing, child care, military installations, area schools, utility companies and many more resources for military members moving to the area.
Upon arrival you are directed to report to the HM-12 Administration Office, located on the second deck of hangar SP-40, Naval Station Norfolk. The quarterdeck can be reached at (757) 322-9434.
