CAPT Robert A. Klaszky hails from Libertyville, IL.  He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and earned his commission through the NROTC program in May 1992.  He also holds a Master’s of Science in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.


His operational tours include USS Flatley (FFG 21) and USS ROSS (DDG 71) as a division officer; USS Taylor (FFG 50) and USS Yorktown (CG 48) as Combat Systems Officer; USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) as Damage Control Assistant; and USS Wasp (LHD 1) as Operations Officer.  During these assignments he completed deployments to the Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations Active Endeavor, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.

CAPT Klaszky served as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MSRON) FOUR.  During his tenure he deployed to United Arab Emirates as part of Commander, Task Group 56.7, and to Kuwait as Commander, Task Group 56.5.  Additionally, he served as Commanding Officer of USS Ponce (AFSB(I) 15) while continuously forward deployed to the COMFIFTHFLT area of operations.

CAPT Klaszky’s staff duties include assignment to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/COMFIFTHFLT as Director, Current Operations in the Maritime Operations Center; Commander, Carrier Strike Group EIGHT as Flag Operations Officer (N3); and at Military Sealift Command Headquarters in Norfolk, VA as Force Employment (N33).  He reported aboard Coastal Riverine Group TWO in November 2017 as Deputy Commodore and assumed command in April 2019.

His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various service and campaign awards.
