Master Chief Constructionman Shawn Babb
Senior Enlisted Advisor, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command
Master Chief Shawn Babb is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1995 and attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois at the age of 19. Upon completion of basic training, he attended Builder “A” School in Gulfport, Mississippi in November 1995.
His first tour of duty was with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1, deploying to Guam, Spain, Bahrain, Ghana, and Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Guardian and Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Endeavor where he advanced through the ranks to first class petty officer.
In October 2001 he transferred to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Michigan where he was assigned as the Recruiter in Charge of Navy Recruiting Station Adrian, Michigan. After detaching from NRD Michigan, he was selected to chief petty officer and reported to NMCB-7 deploying to Iraqi in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Guam as the material liaison officer and the Horn of Africa as the Air Detachment operations chief.
After transferring from NMCB-7, he was selected to senior chief petty officer en route to assist in the commissioning of the 25th Naval Construction Regiment where he was assigned as the current operations chief deploying with “Task Force Overlord” to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Construction Operations for Regional Command-South during Operation Enduring Freedom. He then reported back to NMCB-7 as the battalion operations chief deploying to Rota, Spain for a ten-month deployment and back to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of USFOR-A as the Delta Company leading chief petty officer (LCPO).
After decommissioning NMCB-7 he transferred to the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment (NCR) as the operations chief for both 22nd and 25th NCRs. In addition to this, he served as the group operations LCPO for the newly established Naval Construction Group 2. He then reported to NMCB-11 in February 2015 deploying twice to Rota, Spain as the battalion operations chief supporting four Combatant Commanders throughout 20 detachment sites. He then transferred to Naval Construction Group 2 as the Logistics Department LCPO for a short tour before transferring to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command where he currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Babb has earned the designation as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist. He has earned numerous personal and unit awards.
