Commander Foster was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, but hails from Delray Beach, Florida.  He graduated in May of 2002 from the United States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

CDR Foster was designated a Naval Aviator in March of 2004 and reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TEN (HS-10) at Naval Air Station, North Island. 

He was assigned to his first operational squadron, the “Screamin’ Indians” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron SIX (HS-6), in 2004.  He deployed twice aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.  

CDR Foster reported to the Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Pacific in January of 2008 and completed the Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor (SWTI) course.  While at the Weapons School, he received his Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from the Naval Postgraduate School. 

Following his tour at HSCWSP, he reported to Bagram, Afghanistan to serve as the Protocol Officer for the Combined, Joint, Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan (CJSOTF-A).

In 2011, he returned to San Diego and served under the Commander, Carrier Air Wing ELEVEN (CVW-11) as the Helicopter Operations Officer.  CDR Foster supported Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN (CSG-11), CVW-11, and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron SIX (HSC-6) operations in preparation for the battle group’s 2013 Western Pacific Deployment.

In 2013, he returned to the HSC-6 ranks for his Department Head tour.  The squadron deployed on USS Nimitz (CVN-68) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and Global Contingency Operations.

In 2015, CDR Foster was assigned to the Joint Staff J7, Joint Force Development Directorate, in Suffolk, Virginia as a Targeting Observer / Trainer.  While assigned to the Joint Staff J7, he was selected for Commander Command. He joined the Chargers as Executive Officer in September of 2018.

CDR Foster’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, along with various other campaign and unit decorations.  He is also qualified as a Basic Parachutist.
