Commander Kelly K. Harrison
Commander Kelly Harrison graduated in May 2000 from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. She reported to flight training in Pensacola and was designated a naval aviator in January 2002. Following flight training, she reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TEN (HS-10) in San Diego for training in the SH-60F/HH-60H Seahawk.
Commander Harrison joined the “Dragonslayers” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron ELEVEN (HS-11) and deployed aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65) with Carrier Air Wing ONE (CVW-1) in 2003. While there, she served as the Administrative Officer, Training Officer, and Aircraft Division Officer.
Her first shore assignment was to Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School, Pacific (HSCWSP). While there, she attended the Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor (SWTI) course in Fallon, Nevada. She also joined Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron FOURTEEN (HS-14) for a four month deployment aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) with Carrier Air Wing FIVE (CVW-5). During her tour, CDR Harrison was honored to be selected as the 2008 Naval Helicopter Association Pilot of the Year.
In 2009 she reported to Commander, Strike Force Training Pacific (CSFTP) where she served as the Helicopter Operations and Schedules Officer. In April 2011, Commander Harrison reported to the “Black Knights” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron FOUR (HS-4), deployed aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) with Carrier Air Wing FOURTEEN (CVW-14). While there, she served as the Maintenance Officer, Training Officer, and Administrative Officer.
In August 2013, she reported to Navy Personnel Command (NPC) in Millington, Tennessee as the Helicopter Sea Assignments officer. While assigned to PERS-43, she was selected for Commander Command. She has been proud to serve with the Chargers as their Executive Officer since June of 2017, and took command of the squadron in September of 2018.
Commander Harrison earned a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University’s Kelley School. Her awards include an Air Medal (Individual Action), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and other campaign and unit awards. She is married and has a two year old daughter.
