Ensign Joel Davidson is a native of Austin, TX and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in education from Texas State University in December 2000. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 2001. Following recruit training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Musician "A" School at the Navy School for Music on board Joint Expeditionary Base-Little Creek in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Upon graduation from the Basic Course, ENS Davidson was transferred to Navy Band New Orleans, where he performed throughout the Gulf Coast States and traveled as far as Hawaii and Australia. In 2006, he returned to the Naval School of Music where he successfully completed the Unit Leader Course. He then reported to U.S. Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, Virginia serving as Leading Petty Officer and as the Unit Leader of the Popular Music Group Four Star Edition. Ensign Davidson also deployed on the USNS Comfort, performing in 13 Central and South American Countries.
In 2010, he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer and attended the Senior Musician Course at the Navy School of Music. Subsequently, he transferred to Navy Band Northeast in Newport, Rhode Island where he served as Associate Conductor, Operations Coordinator, and Leading Chief Petty Officer.
After the completion of "Mustang University" in Newport, Rhode Island, ENS Davidson reported to the staff of Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command in his current position as the Assistant Director, U.S. Fleet Forces Band in November 2013.
ENS Davidson’s personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 Awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
