Rear Adm. (select) Polowczyk is director, Fleet Ordnance and Supply and Fleet Supply Officer on the staff of Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.
Polowczyk is a native of Manhasset, Long Island, N.Y. He was commissioned in the Navy Supply Corps following graduation from the United States Naval Academy in May 1987. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Naval Academy, and has a master’s degree in Contract and Acquisition Management from the Naval Postgraduate School as well as a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Polowczyk has also received advanced education at Dartmouth’s Tuck Business School’s executive education program.
Polowczyk’s Supply department head tours have been in attack submarine USS Queenfish (SSN 651), aboard the destroyer USS Peterson (DD 969) and the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5).
Polowczyk recently served as the U.S. Fleet Forces Command Comptroller, where he led the day-to-day budget formulation, execution, funds’ administration, and financial policy and information systems’ processes for U.S. Fleet Forces and the Atlantic Fleet.
Polowczyk’s other shore tours include assignments as the Commanding Officer of the NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and prior to that tour as the Business Management Officer at U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va, where he had oversight of all government contracting, business process and technology transfer programs for JFCOM. He served as the Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management & Comptroller); OPNAV N41, where he developed the Navy Marine Corps Logistics Integration (NLI) program. He was a Business Financial Manager in the SEAWOLF Program Office, Naval Sea Systems Command; and he was the financial officer for Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. He has also served as a contracting officer with NAVSEA and as an instructor at the Naval Supply Corps School in Athens, Ga.
Polowczyk is qualified to wear the Submarine Supply Corps Officer pin as well as the Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer (SWSCO) Insignia. He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, four Meritorious Service Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
