Command Master Chief (June 2011 - July 2013)

Master Chief Ellis is from Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Columbia High School in Lake City, Florida in June, 1978. He enlisted in the United States Navy through the Navy’s Delayed Entry Program in September 1983 and entered Basic Training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida in March 1984. After completing Airman Apprenticeship training in Orlando, he was assigned to USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) in Norfolk, Virginia.
Upon completion of his first deployment, Master Chief Ellis was selected for Air Traffic Control A School in Millington, Tennessee, where he graduated at the top of his class and received follow-on orders to Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville, Florida. Subsequent tours include Naval Air Station Glenview, Illinois; USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74); Naval Air Station Key West, Florida; USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN-75); Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida and most recently he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Carrier Air Traffic Control Training and Readiness at Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. He reported to Tactical Air Control Squadron Twelve as the Senior Enlisted Leader in June, 2011.
Master Chief Ellis’ personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (seven awards) and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. His various other personal and unit awards include the Navy Unit Commendation Medal (2), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Navy Battle Efficiency Award (4), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4), and Navy Expert Pistol Qualification Medal.
