|CDR Vincent S. Martin

CDR Vincent S. Martin is a native of Manila, Philippines and grew up an Army brat. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1984 and served in the submarine service as a nuclear Machinist Mate and Engineering Laboratory Technician. In 1989, he was selected for promotion to first class petty officer and awarded a Navy ROTC scholarship.
CDR Martin was commissioned in May of 1993 after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He completed flight training in Aug 1995 and received the Commander Alden C. Markey Award as the honor graduate. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College Distance Learning Program.
CDR Martin’s sea assignments include flying tours with Patrol Squadron FORTY FIVE (VP-45) based in Jacksonville, Florida, and Patrol Squadron FOUR (VP-4) based in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He also served as the Assistant Navigator aboard the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74) homeported in Coronado, California. He completed deployments in support of NATO Operations DENY FLIGHT, SHARP GUARD, and JOINT ENDEAVOR over the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, anti-submarine operations in the North Atlantic, counter-drug operations in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific, and Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM-PHILIPPINES.
CDR Martin’s shore assignments include a tour as the Flag Lieutenant/Aide to Deputy Commander in Chief, United States Naval Forces Europe based in London, United Kingdom, and as an instructor with Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30), the P-3 Fleet Replacement Squadron based in Jacksonville, Florida. He also served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Training for Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TWO (CPRW-2) based in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. His most recent shore assignment was Deputy Chief, Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) Secretariat, in the J-8 Directorate of the Joint Staff.
CDR Martin is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike Flight Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal, and various unit awards and campaign medals.
