CDR Robert Martin Huntington
Executive Officer
CDR Huntington is a native of Modesto, California and entered the Navy in 1981 as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator following graduation from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. He completed initial training In the SH-2F Seasprite as a LAMPS MK I Sensor Operator and Helicopter Rescue Swimmer and was assigned to HSL-35 from 1982 to 1985 completing a deployment as leading aircrewman to the Western Pacific onboard USS Stein (FF-1065). In 1986, CDR Huntington was assigned to HSL-40 as a Fleet Replacement Aircrew instructor, Sensor Operator and Helicopter Rescue Swimmer in the SH-60B Seahawk where he completed a B.S. in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University. In 1990, CDR Huntington was assigned to HSL-48 where he lead the first LAMPS MK III special projects (BEARTRAP) deployment to South America during UNITAS 33-92 onboard USS San Jacinto (CG-56) and the first AGM-119 Anti-Ship missile deployment to the Mediterranean/Red Sea during MED/RED 2-94 onboard USS Conolly (DD-979). In 1995, CDR Huntington was assigned to Sea Based Weapons and Advanced Tactics School, Pacific (SWATS), as a graduate level USW/SUW tactics instructor. During this tour, CDR Huntington was one of two First Class Petty Officers selected for the LDO commissioning program with the Aviation Operations designator.

In 1996, following his commissioning and fleet replacement training at VS-41 in the S-3B Viking, CDR Huntington was assigned to VS-31 as the ASW Officer and Aircrew Division Officer deploying with Carrier Air Wing SEVEN and the USS JOHN C. STENNIS Battle Group for JTG 98-2. In 1999, CDR Huntington was assigned to HSL-40 and HSLWINGLANT Weapons Tactics Unit as the ASW Officer, Tactical Development and Evaluation (TAC D&E) Officer and Advanced Readiness Program (ARP) Officer. This same year, he was one of six LDO/CWO’s selected for the VP LDO to NFO program. Following initial and advanced Navigator Training at VT-4 and the 562nd FTS, CDR Huntington earned his "Wings of Gold" in October, 2000 and was designated a Naval Flight Officer. Following P-3C Orion Fleet Replacement Training at VP-30, CDR Huntington was assigned to VP-26 where he deployed to Sigonella, Sicily, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, Keflavik, Iceland and various other deployment sites in the Caribbean and Mediterranean AOR's including two detachments as Officer in Charge (OIC) in direct support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In June, 2004, CDR Huntington reported to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71) for his disassociated sea tour where he served as an Aircraft Launch and Recovery Officer. During this tour, he served as the Waist Catapult Branch Officer, V-2 Training Officer and Anti-Terrorism Training Officer / Force Protection Action Officer Instructor and qualified as Assistant Air Officer. In March, 2006 CDR Huntington reported to the staff of Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing TEN where he served as the Current Operations Officer, completing his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I through the Maxwell Air Force Base Air Command & Staff College. During this tour, CDR Huntington was assigned to U.S. Central Command in Tampa, FL supporting the Global War on Terror as an Individual Augmentee (IA), working in the Coalition Coordination Center, J5 directorate. In July, 2007 CDR Huntington was selected for Aviation Department Head and was assigned to VP-5 serving as the squadron Tactics, Training, CTG Operations and Maintenance Officer. In October, 2010 CDR Huntington was assigned to Naval Air Systems Command, PMA-205 serving as the P-3 Assistant Program Manager for Training Systems. He reported to TACRON-11 as the XO in December, 2012.

CDR Huntington has logged more 5,000 flight hours in the SH-2F Seasprite, SH-60B Seahawk, S-3B Viking, and P-3C Orion. Additionally, he has logged 126 carrier-arrested landings.

Personal decorations include the Air Medal, Navy Commendation medal (4), Joint Service Achievement medal, Navy Achievement medal (10), Sikorsky Helicopter Rescue Award (2) and numerous unit and service awards.
