Lieutenant Thomas Murdock is a native of Rimersburg, PA. He graduated from Union High School in 1988 and enlisted the same year. Following boot camp at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, CA he completed “A” school as an Internal Communication Electrician. Lieutenant Murdock’s first permanent duty station assignment was in the Engineering Department onboard the USS BOWEN (FF-1079). Following this tour, he was assigned to the Combat Systems Department on the USS HARRY E. YARNELL (CG-17). After his tour on USS YARNELL, he left active duty in 1993 and was a drilling reservist in Amphibious Construction Battalion Two (ACB 2) in Ebensburg, PA. In 1995 he returned to active duty in the Combat Systems Department in the USS BARRY (DDG-52). Subsequently Lieutenant Murdock was assigned to Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) detachment in Lakehurst, NJ where he was commissioned as an Ensign in the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) Program.
Lieutenant Murdock’s first assignment as a commissioned officer was on the USS DEWERT (FFG-45) as Electronic Material Officer. During his tour on DEWERT he received his Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) qualification. Lieutenant Murdock’s next assignment was as a C5I Inspector for the Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) in Norfolk, VA. Subsequently, Lieutenant Murdock served as Flag EMO and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Material in Carrier Strike Group Three embarked on the USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN-74). His next assignment was as the Combat Systems Maintenance Officer on USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72). Lieutenant Murdock is presently assigned as the Executive Officer for Regional Support Organization, Pacific Northwest in Everett, WA.
