|LT Michael J. Schrump
A native of Fayetteville, NC, LT Schrump enlisted in the Navy in February 1999 attending Basic Training at RTC Great Lakes, IL. After completion of basic training, he attended Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical) “A” school at SSC Great Lakes, graduating in October 1999.
LT Schrump completed enlisted sea tours on USS KAUFFMAN (FFG 59), USS STOUT (DDG 55), USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98) Commissioning Crew, and USS NITZE (DDG 94). During his enlisted sea tours he completed two Mediterranean Sea deployments with Standing Naval Forces Mediterranean (SNFM) and one 4th Fleet deployment in support of UNITAS 2011. He completed one enlisted shore tour at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and IMF where he was awarded as the 2010 Sailor of the Year and a 2010 NAVSEA Sailor of the year finalist.
LT Schrump was selected by the FY 12 Limited Duty Officer selection board and commissioned in November 2011 as a Surface Engineering LDO (6130). His first commissioned sea tour was aboard USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) as the Main Propulsion Assistant where he completed one 7 month deployment to the 7th Fleet AOR in support of Cooperation and Readiness Afloat Training (CARAT) and one 7.5 month counter-narcotics deployment to the 4th Fleet AOR in support of Operation Martillo before decommissioning USS VANDEGRIFT in March 2015. His subsequent sea tour was aboard USS AMERICA (LHA 6) where he served as the Engineering Training Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant.
LT Schrump’s awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals as well as various other unit and service awards.
