Executive Officer

Lieutenant Commander Brown is a native of Miami, Florida. She completed High School and received her Diploma from Miami Northwestern Senior High. She entered the United States Navy in August 1988. She graduated from recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida in Oct 1988 and completed Basic Electronics and Electricity (BE&E) “A” school in March 1989. She graduated from Advanced Electronics School, Great Lakes, Illinois, in October 1989 ranked number 7 of 33 in her class.

Lieutenant Commander Brown advanced through the enlisted ranks as an Electronics Technician filling assignments as Electronic Test Equipment Repair Technician through Communications Branch Head. She earned both her Enlisted Surface Warfare and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist designations as well as numerous accolades including being selected as COMNAVAIRLANT’ S 1997 and CINCLANTFLT’S 1998 winner of the William P. Lawrence Naval Air Traffic Control Technician of the Year Award. Her duty assignments included: NAS Cecil Field, USS YELLOWSTONE (AD-41), NAS Cecil Field (2nd Tour), and USS VELLA GULF (CG-72).

Lieutenant Commander Brown was selected for commissioning under the Limited Duty Officer Program in 2001 and was commissioned on 01 May 2002 as an Electronics Surface (6180) LDO. She reported to LDO/CWO School in Pensacola Florida for Officer Indoctrination. Following the completion of her training in July 2002, Lieutenant Commander Brown reported to the USS VINCENNES (CG-49), forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan, where she served as the Electronics Materials Officer (EMO) and earned her Surface Warfare Officer designation.

In September 2005, Lieutenant Commander Brown reported for duty as the Automated Data Processing (ADP) Maintenance Officer/Network Operations Officer on board USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), Commander Seventh Fleet Flag Ship, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. During her tenure onboard, she qualified as Officer of the Deck (Underway) and Command Duty Officer. In March 2007, she was selected as the Navy’s 2007 DoD Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Role Model Award winner.

In April 2007 she reported to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific (NCTAMS PAC) in Wahiawa, HI where she fulfilled duties as the Makalapa Technical Control (N63) Division Officer, Consolidated Maintenance Assistant Department Head (N6A), as well as the Combatant Commander (COCOM) Support Department Head (N2) until March 2009. Following her tour at NCTAMS PAC, she reported to USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan, where she served as the Information Assurance Officer/CS2 Division Officer and the Electronics Data Processing Officer (CS5) and earned her Tactical Action Officer (TAO) qualification. Upon completion of her tour on board USS GEORGE WASHINGTON in April 2011, she reported to United States Southern Command, Miami Florida, where she served as the Programs & Projects Branch Chief (SCJ653), Plans & Operations Branch Chief (SCJ635), and the USSOUTHCOM Joint Operations Center Operations Watch Officer. In May 2014 LCDR Brown reported to Regional Support Organization Pacific Northwest as the Executive Officer.

She is authorized to wear the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), Surface Warfare Officer cutlass, Enlisted Surface Warfare and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist insignias, and various campaign and service ribbons.
