SMWDC Visits USS Cape St George

​SAN DIEGO (October 30, 2015) Lt. Cmdr. Matt Cox, warfare tactics instructor (WTI) assigned to Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), explains the process to become a WTI to junior officers aboard the USS Cape St. George  (CG 71). Modeled after the success of the Navy Strike and Air Warfare Center (Top Gun), SMWDC is increasing the tactical proficiency of the surface warfare community by plucking a select cadre of SWOs to become specialized warfighters called Warfare Tactics Instructors (WTI). WTIs are the subject matter experts in Amphibious Warfare, Anti-Submarine/Surface Warfare, or Integrated Air and Missile Defense for ships and training staffs (e.g., Afloat Training Group or Center for Surface Combat Systems).
