Lt. Gen. Walsh Visits SMWDC
 
SAN DIEGO (May 18, 2017) Lt. Gen. Robert Walsh, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC) and Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration (CD&I), visits the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) Headquarters at Naval Base San Diego to discuss tactical development and naval integration across the spectrum of Surface Warfare and Marine Corps mission areas with Vice Adm. Tom Rowden, Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific, and Rear Adm. John Wade, Commander, SMWDC. In addition to providing an overview of the SMWDC mission and the command's growth since its inception in June 2015, the visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the SMWDC's Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) program (Amphibious Warfare, Anti-Submarine/Surface Warfare, and Integrated Air and Missile Defense), recent initiatives in Mine Warfare, tactical development of the F-35B strike fighter, tactical publications, delivery of advanced tactical training to the fleet, and opportunities for leveraging Navy-Marine Corps team integration to raise warfighting effectiveness.
