ABECS (SW/AW) Ralph S. Crowder III
Command Senior Chief (February 2012 - October 2013)

Command Senior Chief Crowder hails from Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Edmondson High School in June 1990.

He enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program in June 1991 and attended Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in October 1991. His follow-on training included Apprenticeship Training (ATD) School in Great Lakes, Illinois

He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 160/Green Group) and COB/CMC/CSC course in Newport, Rhode Island. He is also a graduate of the Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Equipment (ABE) A1 School in Millington, Tennessee, Maintenance Technician School in Lakehurst, New Jersey, Instructor Training Course in Bangor, Washington and received his Master Training Specialist in NATTC Pensacola, Florida. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

His sea duty assignments include the USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) home ported in Bremerton, Washington, USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70) home ported in Bremerton, Washington, USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) home ported in San Diego California and Bremerton, Washington. His shore duty assignments include two tours at Naval Air Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Florida.

His command positions include Leading Chief Petty Officer Safety Department, Leading Chief Petty Officer Bow, Waist and Maintenance Support in Air Department, V-2 Division, Leading Chief Petty Officer Air Training Department ABE A1 School, Quality Assurance Supervisor, Command Managed Equal Opportunity Coordinator (CMEO), Command Physical Readiness Training Coordinator and Vice President NATTC Chief Petty Officer Mess.

He was selected for the Command Senior Chief program during his tour at Naval Air Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Florida in 2011. Reported to his present command MCM Crew Leader embarked on the USS WARRIOR (MCM-10) San Diego, CA September 2011.

ABECS (AW/SW) Crowder is qualified to wear the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist insignia and the Enlisted Surface Warfare insignia. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), Military Outstanding Voluntary Service Medal and various other unit, service and campaign awards.
