Commanding Officer (January 2013 - October 2013)

Lieutenant Commander Scott C. Nietzel hails from Phoenix, AZ and is a graduate of Columbia College where he earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
At sea, Lieutenant Commander Nietzel served as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS DEWEY (DDG 105), Fire Control Officer in USS CHOSIN (CG 65) and First Lieutenant in USS LAKE ERIE (CG 70). Ashore, he attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he earned a Master’s Degree in National Security Affairs in Latin America.
Lieutenant Commander Nietzel’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
