LCDR Daniel “Lee” Shorter II
Commanding Officer (November 2011 - July 2013)

LCDR Shorter is from Maryland. Enlisted in the Navy in 1993 and reported to Recruit Training NRTC Orlando, Florida, immediately following recruit training he reported to Cryptographic Technician Communicator CTO “A” School in Pensacola.

He then reported to his first command Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station NCTS San Diego, Direct Support; he completed three deployments from NCTS on onboard USS DULUTH LPD 6, USS JOHN PAUL JONES DDG 53 and the USNS Observation Island. He left NCTS as a CTO2(SW) and reported to Commander Fleet Air Keflavik, Iceland.

While at COMFAIRKEF he was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program and reported to Naval Science Institute in Newport Rhode Island in the fall of 1999. LCDR Shorter graduated from Norfolk State University in December 2001 and reported to Surface Warfare Officer School in January 2002.

His first Division Officer tour was to USS PORTLAND LSD 37, as a Steam Engineering Division Officer and his second Division Officer tour was onboard USS WARRIOR MCM 10, as the Operations Officer.

For his shore tour he reported to the Operations Directorate, Force Protection Shop, at Commander Pacific Fleet Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. LCDR Shorter started Department Head School in August 2007 and upon graduation in February 2008 he report to USS COMSTOCK LSD 45 as the Operations Officer.

He was selected for early command in April 2009, he reported to MCM Crew REAPER as the Executive Officer in August 2010. LCDR Shorter was transferred to MCM Crew FEARLESS as the Executive Officer in August and fleeted up to Commanding Officer of Crew FEARLESS in October.
