|Lieutenant Commander Joshua D. Kristenson
Lieutenant Commander Kristenson, a native of Franklin, MA, enlisted in the Navy on his 18th birthday. He completed nuclear power training and served as a staff instructor until he began his officer ascension training.
A three-sport varsity athlete at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lieutenant Commander Kristenson graduated with honors in 2004 with a degree in International Finance. He then commissioned through the Enlisted Commissioning Program within the
Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.
Afloat, he completed tours as Auxiliaries Officer in USS BOXER (LHD 4), Plankowner Navigator in USS KIDD (DDG 100), Operations Officer in USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98), and Operations Officer in LCS Crew 203,
to include LCS tours in USS CORONADO (LCS 4) and as a Plankowner in USS JACKSON (LCS 6).
Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Kristenson studied Chinese (Mandarin) at the Defense Language Institute and served as an Olmsted Scholar (Class of 2009) in Beijing, China. He was awarded a Master’s degree in the field of International Development
at China’s prestigious Tsinghua University.
He previously served as the Executive Officer for MCM Crew DOMINANT, embarked in USS CHAMPION (MCM 4), homeported in San Diego, CA and has been in command since July 2017. Lieutenant Commander Kristenson has been married for nearly fifteen years
to his lovely wife, the former Ms. Beth Roesch of Mullen, NE.
