|Lieutenant Commander Matthew T. Yokeley
A native of Marshall, MO, Lieutenant Commander Yokeley graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Journalism.
Afloat, he completed his Division Officer tours onboard USS JAMES E. WILLIAMS (DDG 95) as the Strike Warfare Officer and then as the Navigator. During his tenure in JAMES E. WILLIAMS, Lieutenant Commander Yokeley made three deployments to the FIFTH Fleet Area of Responsibility in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, as well as Commander, Joint Task Force Horn of Africa anti-piracy operations. He returned to sea as the Operations Officer onboard USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG 81), where he completed a fourth FIFTH Fleet deployment in support of Operation DECISIVE STORM. He then reported to Commander, Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE in Pearl Harbor, HI, where he assumed the role of N3/Operations Officer. Lieutenant Commander Yokeley reported as the Executive Officer for MCM Crew DOMINANT, embarked onboard USS CHAMPION (MCM 4), in May 2017.
Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Yokeley served as a student at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA, earning a Master of Science degree in Operations Research, as well as completing the Graduate Certificate Program in Human Systems Integration and the Naval War College Non-resident Program for Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. Following his time at NPS, Lieutenant Commander Yokeley was an instructor at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center, where he taught Aegis Weapon System operations and employment in the Combat Systems Officer curriculum.
Lieutenant Commander Yokeley’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Star) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Gold Star) as well as multiple unit and service awards.
