Lieutenant Micah Sybor, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, was commissioned after graduating from the Untied States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2002. After attending Surface Warfare Officer’s School in Newport, RI, he reported to USS STOUT (DDG 55), where he served as Strike Division Officer and Auxiliaries Division Officer. During his tour, USS STOUT deployed to 6th Fleet AOR as part of Standing NATO Forces Atlantic. He fleeted up to be the Navigator in USS STOUT and completed a 5th Fleet AOR deployment in DDG CREW SIERRA completing the Atlantic Sea Swap deployment. DDG CREW SIERRA deployed in USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66), conducting anti-pirate operations of the Horn of Africa and operations in Combined Task Forces 151, 152 and 58. CREW SIERRA returned from deployment and assumed ownership of USS LABOON (DDG 58). He served as Chief Engineer in USS MILIUS, completing a 5th Fleet independent Ballistic Missile Defense deployment and operations in support of CTF Iraqi Maritime. Upon completion of deployment MILIUS completed a Selected Restricted Availability and INSURV.
LT Sybor shore assignment was as a student at the Naval Post Graduate School where completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 and earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
LT Sybor’s personal awards in the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign and unit awards.
