Command Master Chief
Master Chief Petty Officer Thomas Conway is a native of Olney, Maryland. He enlisted in the Navy in 1993 under the Advanced Electronics Field program and attended boot camp in Orlando, Florida. Master Chief Conway then completed Basic Electricity & Electronics and Electronics Technician “A” schools in Great Lakes, Illinois and reported to his first duty station, USS VELLA GULF (CG 72) deployed to the 5th and 6th fleets in 1995.
Master Chief Conway’s sea duty assignments include USS VELLA GULF (CG 72) serving as exterior communications Work Center Supervisor; USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101) serving as CE Division Leading Petty Officer, Leading Chief Petty Officer, and 3M Coordinator; USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71) serving as Leading Chief Petty Officer; USS SPRUANCE (DDG 111) serving as Combat Systems and Executive Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and 3M Coordinator.
Ashore Master Chief Conway’s assignments include Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic (FCTCLANT) serving as LINK-11/16/4A instructor and course manager of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) course of instruction; Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Iceland (NCTSI) serving as Officer in Charge of the remote HF/LF/VLF transmitter site.
Master Chief Conway was selected to the Command Master Chief / Command Senior Chief program in 2012, he is a graduate of the CMC/COB Command Leadership School class 108 and the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy class 170.
Master Chief Conway previously served in MCM Crew SWERVE as the Command Senior Chief before reporting to MCM Crew CONFLICT in September 2013.
