Senior Chief Bowman is a New Jersey native and enlisted in the United States Navy in May 1993. Upon completion of Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Ill., he reported to Aviation Boatswains Mate Handling Class “A” School. His first duty station after school was as a member of the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69). In February 1998, Petty Officer Bowman reported to Naval Support Facility, Thurmont, Maryland. During this tour, he was advanced to First Class Petty Officer.
In June 2003, he reported to the USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) where he was selected as Air Department Sailor of the Year, and was advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In 2006, he transferred to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion One (NCHB-1) as the Air Cargo Leading Chief Petty Officer. At the completion of his very successful tour, and being advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer, he was again assigned to USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65) in June 2009 as the Hangar Deck Leading Chief Petty Officer.
Senior Chief Bowman was selected to the Command Senior Chief program and attended the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, R. I. (Class 159 Brown), and the CMC/COB Course (Class 89) in Newport, R.I.
Upon graduating from the Senior Enlisted Academy and the CMC/COB Course Senior Chief Bowman was assigned to MCM CREW CONFLICT where he currently serves as the Command Senior Chief.
Senior Chief Bowman’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, numerous unit commendations, campaign medals and service ribbons.
