|LCDR Todd B. Penrod
LCDR Todd Penrod is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida and entered the Navy in 1984. His enlisted assignments include Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida, USS AUBREY FITCH (FFG 34) in Mayport, Florida, USS ORION (AS 18) Forward deployed in La Maddelena, Italy, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan, Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, and USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV 67) in Mayport, Florida where he received his commission via the CWO/LDO program in 2001 as a CWO2.
His first commissioned tour was on USS PREBLE (DDG 88) as the Systems Test Officer. Completing all phases of new construction, this tour culminated in PREBLE's maiden deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
After a brief shore tour at Afloat Training Group, Pacific he reported to USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52) as the Electronics Material Officer. Bunker Hill deployed with the BOXER ESG as the Sea Combat Commander (SCC) and additionally operated with the IKECSG supporting as SCC and Air Defense Commander (ADC) for contingency operations off Somalia's Coast. Additionally, he served as the Weapons Officer on BUNKER HILL for 14 months, earning two Battle Efficiency Awards and the Spokane Trophy for Combat Excellence.
In late 2009, he reported to USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101) as the Operations Officer and deployed with the Carl Vinson Strike Group in 2010 conducting operations in the 7th Fleet AOR that included multi-national exercises with JMSDF, ROK, and RSN navies.
Lieutenant Commander Penrod reported aboard USS AVENGER (MCM 1) in November 2011 as the Executive Officer and assumed Command of AVENGER in September of 2013. As part of an Overseas Force Structure Change, LCDR Penrod turned over Command of AVENGER and assumed Command of USS PIONEER (MCM 9) in July 2014.
