USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) was awarded the Green “H” award April 4th, attesting to PATRIOT’s commitment to health excellence. The award is based on achievements during calendar year 2010. Some aspects that are graded include dental readiness, Physical Readiness Test results and NAVOSH programs.
“It takes the entire crew to get this award. It is not just a medical award, this award belongs to PATRIOT and her crew,” said HM1 (SW/FMF) Jerod Napier - USS PATRIOT’s Independent Duty Corpsman. “We would not be getting this award if it were not for support from the other departments. Supply giving healthy food choices at all meals and the Command Fitness Leader preparing everyone for the physical fitness assessment - it’s all part of our ship as a whole.”
PATRIOT has a sustained high individual medical readiness, plus an active health promotion committee that brings innovative health promotion training programs. This is the final award HM1 (SW/FMF) will have the pleasure of assisting USS PATRIOT in winning with his PRD rapidly approaching. USS PATRIOT and her crew will be looking forward to continuing highly maintained health programs with the arrival of the new IDC HM1 (SW) Schaffer in May 2011. By ENS Jonathan D. Benson.
