|LCDR Lawrence Heyworth IV
Lieutenant Commander Lawrence Heyworth IV is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. A 2005 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he holds a Masters of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.
Following graduation, he reported as Auxiliaries Officer in USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93), homeport Pearl Harbor, HI, where he completed a deployment to the 5th and 7th Fleet Areas of Responsibility (AORs). He led the Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) team on over 35 missions in Iraqi Territorial Waters to protect critical Iraqi oil infrastructure and to reinforce maritime security.
LCDR Heyworth completed his second sea tour as Navigator in USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43), homeport Little Creek, VA, deploying to the 4th, 5th, and 6th Fleet AORs. He also acted as the ship’s VBSS Boarding Officer and Legal Officer, and assisted directly with medical teams ashore in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.
On his first department head tour, LCDR Heyworth served as Operations Officer in USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG 81), homeport Norfolk, VA. He participated in CHURCHILL’s 2012-2013 deployment and 2014 Basic Phase.
LCDR Heyworth most recently completed a tour as Executive Officer, USS SENRY (MCM 3), during which SENTRY deployed to the Gulf of Aden and as far as the Red Sea in support of international coalition efforts in the region.
Ashore, LCDR Heyworth served as liaison officer to the United States Senate as part of the Navy's Office of Legislative Affairs.
His personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Ribbon, and two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.
