|LT William A. Russell
Executive Officer (February 2015 - August 2017)
A native of Roseburg, Oregon Lieutenant William A. Russell graduated from Old Dominion University in 2006 following just over 12 years of enlisted service as an Aviation Electronics Technician and has since served in positions in the Atlantic, Pacific and Middle East.
During his enlisted service, LT Russell deployed with the Fighting Marlins of VP-40 out of Whidbey Island Washington, served in USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) in Sasebo Japan, deployed with USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), and served as an instructor at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA.
His first commissioned sea duty tour was in USS NASSAU (LHA 4) where he qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer and Steam EOOW. Near the end of this tour, he volunteered for an Individual Augmentee billet deploying to Joint Base Ballad in Iraq in a CRAM Battery in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 3.
Following this tour, he served as Operations Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant in USS GUARDIAN (MCM 5). During this tour he led the Operations department/MP division through a successful INSURV and planned three multinational TSC events in the 7th Fleet AOR.
His shore tour was served as the Surface Warfare Advisor at the University of Illinois where he completed his MA in U.S. History and JPME Phase 1. Following Department Head School, LT Russell reported to MCM Crew Dominant as the Chief Engineer and served on USS CHAMPION (MCM 4). He is currently XO of USS CHIEF (MCM 14).
