Senior Chief Griffin a native of Moultrie, GA. Upon graduation from High School, he entered the Navy in August 1988 and completed Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL. He continued his training in Great Lakes attending the Electrician Mate “A” School.
Upon graduation, he reported to USS ST. Louis LKA-116 in Sasebo, Japan from 1989-1992. His follow on tours include USS HEWITT DD 966 YOKOSUKA, Japan from 1992-1997. He then reported to Command Fleet Activities Yokosuka Security Detachment Yokosuka, Japan from 1997-2000 where he had the duty of the Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer and advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then reported to USS COWPENS CG-63 Yokosuka, Japan from 2000-2004 as the 3M Coordinator to include duties as the Chief Master at Arms, Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor and Command Fitness Leader. He then reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL as the Command Fitness Leader and Agility Instructor he also qualified as a Master Training Specialist. He then reported to USS Fitzgerald DDG-62 Yokosuka, Japan as the 3M Coordinator to include duties as a Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor, Chief Master at Arms, Command Fitness Leader and was advanced to the Rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Additionally Senior Chief Griffin is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy class 163 (Gray).
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and Navy Good Conduct Medal (five awards).
