Command Master Chief (July 2010 - April 2011)
Master Chief Myrick is a native of Los Angeles, California and a 1985 graduate of Fremont High School. He enlisted in the Navy in June 1986 under the Delayed Entry Program, and began active service in August 1986. He conducted basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida, and upon completion, attended Ships Serviceman “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi.
Master Chief Myrick reported to his first duty station in December 1986 aboard USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) in San Diego, California. He was assigned to KITTY HAWK for less than a year, and in November 1987, he transferred to his second duty station, USS PEORIA (LST 1183) in San Diego, California.
In January 1992, he reported to Transient Personnel Unit, San Diego, California, for duty as a Discipline Master-at-Arms. Upon completion of this tour, he then transferred to USS BOXER (LHD 4) and was onboard from 1994 - 1999 (Plankowner). While onboard, he was advanced to First Class Petty Officer and was selected 1997 BOXER Senior Sailor of the Year and Amphibious Group THREE Sea Sailor of the Year.
In May 1999, Master Chief Myrick reported to Fleet Training Center, San Diego, California for Instructor duty. In September 1999, he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Myrick reported to USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) in San Diego, California in June 2002. He was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer in April 2003, and as Departmental LCPO, led the efforts in LAKE CHAMPLAIN being awarded the Supply Blue “E” and the coveted “Best in Class” for Retail Operations Excellence.
In June 2006, he reported to Naval Base Coronado as the Equal Opportunity Advisor. In June 2007, he was selected for a 15 month IA tour to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and while deployed, was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer in April 2008. He safely led over 500 convoys, under the constant threat of IED’s and insurgent attacks, with no loss of personnel or equipment.
Master Chief Myrick was selected for the CMC Program in February 2009. In July 2009, he reported aboard USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) and assumed the duties as Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Myrick is a graduate of the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI), DAPA Course, CMEO Managers Course, Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Non-Resident Class 13) and the CMC/COB Course (Class 60). He holds an Associate of Arts & Science Degree from Thomas Edison State College. He has earned the Master Training Specialist (MTS) and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) qualifications.
Master Chief Myrick’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Navy Good Conduct Award (six awards) and various service and campaign awards.
