Master Chief Copley joined the Navy on May 20, 1990. In July 1990, he completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, and received orders to Fire Controlman (FC) “A” School in NTC Great Lakes, IL.
His tours as a Fire Controlman include USS OLDENDORF (DD 972), Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group Pacific (FASOTRAGRUPAC), USS SHILOH (CG 67), Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific, USS ANTIETAM (CG 54), and Afloat Training Group Pacific, San Diego (ATGPAC SD).
Master Chief Copley was selected to the Command Master Chief program in 2011 and accepted orders as the Command Master Chief, USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49), reporting on 28 October 2011.
Command Master Chief Copley’s personal awards include; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and numerous unit and campaign awards. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class non-resident 25) and Command Master Chief course (Class 94).
