Command Master Chief

Master Chief Vanterpool is native of St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. He enlisted in the Navy in June 1989 and attended Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida.

His sea duty assignments include: Antarctic Development Squadron Six (VXE 6), Strike Fighter Squadron 137 (VFA 137), USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64), USS THORN (DD 988), USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD 18) and Commander U.S. Naval Forces Central Command / U. S. Fifth Fleet.

Master Chief was assigned to the decommissioning crew of the USS THORN (DD 988) and the pre-commissioning crew of the USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD 18).

His shore duty assignments include: Personnel Support Activity Detachment Naval Training Center, San Diego, Personnel Support Detachment North Island, San Diego and Commander Naval Surface Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet, San Diego.

Master Chief Petty Officer Vanterpool is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 134 Brown Group and CMC/COB Command Leadership Course 137.

His personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards) and other various personal, unit and campaign awards.
