|CDR Jon P. Rigby
CDR Jon P. Rigby graduated from Texas Tech University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Following Commissioning through OCS and after attending Surface Warfare Division Officers School in Newport, RI, he reported to the USS DE WERT (FFG-45) in November 1999. During his tour he made a SOUTHCOM deployment conducting independent anti-drug operations jointly with the US Coast Guard in the Pacific.
CDR Rigby reported to USS BLACKHAWK (MHC-58) in March 2002 and served as the Operations Officer. He was also the Senior Operations Officer for a five ship MIWRG during its East Coast Deployment in 2002. CDR Rigby coordinated all seagoing operations as well as all logistics for MIWRG FIVE.
In September 2003, CDR Rigby reported to the Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey, CA. He earned a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics. During March 2005, he transferred to the Full Time Support (FTS) community.
In March 2007, CDR Rigby reported to the USS CARTER HALL (LSD-50) as the Chief Engineer. During his time aboard, he deployed to the FIFTH FLEET AOR and conducted anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia.
In September 2008, he reported to ENGINEERING ASSESSMENTS ATLANTIC as the lead Diesel Assessor for all Gulf and East coast ships.
In May 2010, CDR Rigby reported aboard USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7) as the Navigator. During his tour he again deployed to the SOUTCOM AOR, this time in support of Continuing Promise 2010.
In December 2011, CDR Rigby assumed command of Naval Operation Support Center (NOSC) Amarillo, TX.
CDR Rigby's awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (two awards), the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (four awards), and both Pistol and Rifle Expert medal among others.
He reported onboard USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) as Executive Officer in April 2014.
