Command Master Chief
Native of Champaign, Il, Master Chief Took er enlisted in the United States Navy on June 23, 1981. After completing Recruit Training in Orlando, Fla., he attended Signalman “A” school in San Diego, Calif. His first duty following school was serving as a crewmember onboard USS Briscoe (DD-977) in Norfolk, Va. Signalman Second Class Tooker reported to the pre-commissioning crew of USS Reuben James (FFG-57) in Long Beach, Calif., where he received his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification.
In June 1987, Signalman First Class (SW) Tooker reported to Recruit Training Center Great Lakes as a Recruit Company Commander and went on to successfully train eight recruit companies, including one Hall of Fame, and received his Master Training Specialist qualification.
From 1991 to 2003, he supported the Navy mission as a Reservist and was assigned to Naval Station Great Lakes, Assault Craft Unit One Great Lakes, and Fleet Training Group Pearl Harbor. Following the attacks on 9-11, he was recalled to active duty for a two year period and subsequently advanced to Chief Petty Officer before returning to active duty as a Chief Master-at-Arms.
Chief Tooker completed a successful tour as Department Leading Chief Petty Officer for Public Safety at Great Lakes, Il. from 2003 to 2006 and then reported to USS BATAAN (LHD-5) as the Chief Master-at-Arms. While attached to BATAAN, Chief Tooker qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In January 2010, he reported to staff duty at Commander, Navy Installations Command where he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor of N3ATmatters and completed a 14 month individual augmentation assignment to Joint Task Force-Guantanamo. While at CNIC, he was advanced to Master Chief and selected to the Command Master Chief program.
