|Lieutenant Commander Thomas R. Goudreau
Lieutenant Commander Goudreau was raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, enlisting in the US Navy as a submarine electronics technician in 1987. Following training, he served in USS SALT LAKE CITY (SSN 716) from December 1988 to May 1992, deploying to the Western Pacific. Next, he served with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Four (VQ-4) at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma during which time he attended the University of Oklahoma, completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in History in May 1996. His next assignment was in DSRV-2 AVALON where he was selected for Officer Candidate School, receiving his commission in May 1997.
His initial officer sea assignment was aboard USS CLEVELAND (LPD 7) from May 1998 to June 2000 as Auxiliaries Officer. Operations included RIMPAC-98-98 and a Western Pacific/ Arabian Gulf deployment in support of Operation Southern Watch and Exercise Eager Mace. Following his tour in CLEVELAND, he served aboard USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC 20) from June 2000 to January 2002 as Assistant Operations Officer.
Ashore he served as Naval Personnel Command, first as a Rating Assignment Officer (for surface technical rates) and then as the Metrics Officer for PERS 40 from February 2002 until June 2003. Next, he reported to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey California earring his Master of Business Administration degree in Financial Management in December, 2004.
LCDR Goudreau served his first department head tour aboard USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) from August 2005 to December 2006 as Operations Officer where he deployed to the Arabian Gulf supporting Operation Iraqi freedom and Enduring Freedom. From January 2007 to March 2009, he completed his second department head tour as N3 with COMPHIBRON FOUR aboard USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7), where he deployed to NAVCENT AOR for counter piracy operations.
From May 2009 to September 2010, LCDR Goudreau served on the staff of Commander Second Fleet as Joint Task Force Logistics Officer for the Operational Logistics team which won the Admiral Stan Arthur Award for Logistics Excellence. He then reported to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA to study Italian from October 2010 to May 2011 before serving a year in Rome, Italy at the Italian War College where he earned a Post-Lauream Master degree in International Military Strategic Studies from Roma Tre University in May 2012.
His personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).
